Jan.15, 2017: Carolina Beach to Southport, NC

Jan. 15, 2017, saw us (cautiously) taking the ICW from Carolina Beach to Southport, NC.  What a difference a day can make; on this day we had nice high water because we got into our destination before low tide, and there were very few shoaling danger areas.

The day before had been gloomy, but this day was sunny and glorious.  We had dolphin everywhere, and it was a great day.  It was a short leg to get to a South Harbour Village Marina, a marina that had been recommended to us by a number of friends.  We got in early enough to take a nap.  Yeah, baby! There isn’t really much to say about this day’s journey.  We chose to stay in Southport to set us up to hop offshore to Charleston.

South Harbour Village Marina has a long facing dock for transients, which we love.  It had clean bathrooms, restaurants on site, and fuel.

This day was 3 1/4 hours for 14.6 nm (16.8 sm).
